Transit Retreat hosted by the Northwest Pennsylvania Mobility Alliance, Inc
Myrtle Beach, SC
February 1 | February 3, 2023
The Transit Retreat will be focused on Transit leaders, Mobility Managers and Advocates from across the nation. Whether you are new to Transit and Mobility or a seasoned professional, this event is for you. Keeping this Retreat aimed at the Rural, Small Urban and Demand Response providers will maximize the attendance and allow for targeted information sharing. To ensure we remain true to a “Retreat” concept, we will limit attendance. This isn’t your typical transit event. Expect more targeted opportunities to engage your peers, national partners and vendors in a relaxed, scenic setting.
The future of networking and information sharing with Transit peers and Vendor interaction is not to walk through a loud, crowded Expo Hall with 5-10 minutes of face time. Transit leaders want the ability to have real conversations in a relaxed setting where time and attention can be provided. The Retreat will capitalize on this concept and integrate dedicated time for Transit Leaders, National partners and Vendors to interact in a retreat setting along with low-stress networking opportunities.

TWC Webinar: Fundamentals of Mentoring
Online
Event Start Time: 3:00 pm ET
Event End Time: 4:15 pm ET
June 22, 2022
: Fundamentals of Mentoring
Description:
Mentor programs provide a powerful and effective tool for workforce development and retention. For maintenance occupations, mentors deliver hands-on training support, putting skills in diverse workplace contexts beyond the classroom. For bus operators, mentors provide guidance that addresses real world situations, building and expanding on basic training and creating ongoing support for each new operator. In every transit agency across all occupations, seasoned employees have stores of knowledge waiting to be shared. Without mentorship, this knowledge can be lost when workers retire or move on.
A well-structured mentorship program, designed in partnership with the workers, ensure this expertise is passed on. Strong mentorship programs also provide mentors with leadership opportunities and mentees with the skills and confidence they need to succeed, increasing expertise and morale throughout the organization. In this webinar, attendees will:
- Develop an understanding of the key elements of a successful mentorship program
- Hear from labor and management leaders at established transit mentor programs about the impact of mentorship programs in their agencies
- Learn about the skills used by effective mentors
- Listen to the experiences of current mentors and mentees.
This is the third in the Transit Workforce Center’s webinar series on strategic workforce development planning in transit.
Presenters:
Michael Hursh, General Manager, AC Transit
Stuart Bass, Principal, Progress Worx
Jamaine Gibson, Director of Apprenticeships and Workforce Development, Amalgamated Transit Union International
Dionna McCane, ATU Mentorship and Apprenticeship Coordinator, ATU Local 1070/IndyGo – Indianapolis, IN
Kevin Philpotts, Apprenticeship Coordinator, TWU 234/SEPTA – Philadelphia, PA
Anton Pierson, Mentor, ATU Local 1005/Metro Transit – Minneapolis, MN

Online
Event Start Time: 1:30 pm ET
Event End Time: 3:00 pm ET

The session will close with a first-look look at the initial phase of the TWC’s National Transit Frontline Worker Campaign and elements of the campaign’s toolkit.
